Time to start posting, making, creating and saving

My husband is a shopaholic. I used to think I was a shopaholic, but he can outdo me. On Boxing Day he wanted to find somewhere to shop. He loves to shop, not for anything specific, he just likes to shop. However "nothing specific" can be very expensive.

Me, I like to save for a rainy day as best I can. I am a planner. I like to plan purchases most of the time - though a little retail therapy is also good - so I like to have that money there for when I find things we want or need, over that instant gratification of purchasing something. But I digress, the reason I bring this is up is that I need to live to a budget. Both my husband and I work full-time, we have our own home that we are paying off and we have two children in the private school system. We are planning on renovations to our house this year and though the thought is terrifying I know it really needs to be done, not the least because I currently sleep on the lounge as my husband is also a very loud snorer and I am a very light sleeper - not the best combination for a healthy relationship.

So anyway, the reason for this blog is to show that those pictures in magazines or items of desire can often be achieved with a little ingenuity and a love of cheap stuff.  I promise you now that you will not find expensive things on my blog. It will be stuff that can be sourced second-hand, at bargain stores, your own cupboards and the like.

I am not a very crafty person and I do not own a sewing machine but I think I have an eye for things that look good without an obscene price tag attached.  I like to dig through my cupboards and recycle things, sometimes with a coat of paint here, a re-purposed item there. You will be surprised how things can come together quite easily.

I find inspiration in many different places and I would love people to share their ideas too. Pinterest is great, as is Google images to get the creative juices flowing.

Well this is my first blog on my new topic as an introduction and there will be many more to come.

So here goes....
